TWIN Bros: Indie Game Review

Twin Bros is an indie game created by Smit Parmar and released on November 29, 2016.

Two brothers are on the way to a dance club and get trapped in a strange world full of stupid enemies and strange platform maze. It’s a fast-paced game where players control two characters who are moving in opposite direction which adds a challenge to the game. Passing through levels, and dodging enemies, the brothers try to reach to their destination.

Graphics and Sound

The game brings back the days of retro 8-bit graphics, but there’s some modernization in the artwork. the background and the characters look retro, but the levels, props, and GUI look more modern.

The game has good quality sound effects; there is also a mix of retro and modern sound effects.

Gameplay and Controls

The controls of the game are pretty much like other PC platformer games. Players can move around using the arrow keys or ASD Keys, and jump by pressing the W Key or Up Arrow. Players can also jump using the spacebar.

Getting Trapped

There may be times when players accidentally get trapped. To free the trapped character, players must control the other character and reach to the trapped one. Before you go near trapped character, players must press the K key first, then run to the jail cell; otherwise, both characters will get trapped.

The fact that you can start over from the beginning by selecting new game makes the game replayable. However, the experience will not be different every time you play it again. As far as I know, there aren’t alternative endings or anything like that, but there are enough levels and challenges to keep you entertained.

There’s one issue I have with the game, and that’s menu navigation. In the main menu, it is very easy to accidentally overwrite your progress, as the “new game” selector is the first menu item.

Overall, I think this is a fun and challenging game. The game looks really simple, but the real challenge is getting both characters to get to the door at the same time. Another thing that makes the game challenging is time; The meter shown at the top is not their health bar; It’s a meter that shows how much time you have to make it to the door.

On last thing I will add, the game is on sale for 25% off on steam. Be sure to check it out.
