A Preview of My First Game

Over the past several months, I’ve been saying that I was going to release screenshots and videos of gameplay real soon, however, that has been really challenging because I have been battling a brain tumor for seven years.

My New Year’s resolution is to manage my time better and put more hours into working on my indie game and writing more on my blog. I will begin this resolution with this preview of my first game, but before I begin talking about my game, I want to thank you all for reading my blog. I really appreciate the comments and support I have been given.

2016 was a very tough year for me; going through brain surgery and radiation therapy was really difficult. Yesterday I received news about my brain tumor; the radiation hasn’t quite removed my tumor, but the doctor says that it’s stable, meaning that it’s not growing. He says perhaps the tumor may be dead, but it’ll take months to shrink. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of the end for my seven-year nightmare. Now, without further delay, let me show you the video game I’ve been working on.

My First Project

My project is a smash n’ run, action, platformer game. I’m still working on a title for the game; It may be something like “Fists of Furry” or “Kung Fu Kitties”, I still haven’t decided yet.

I’m still working on the entire story for the game, but I have most of it written. The story takes place in present time, in the same galaxy, not too far away. What Earth calls Kepler-62e (1200 light years away), is an earthlike planet called Garoke. In Garoke, lives several intelligent species like humans. These species can build cities, transportation, and weapons. Their lands are also controlled by their own government. These species look like cats, dogs, raccoons, snakes, and other Earth animals.

A Nation called the Clowder Alliance is at war with the evil Ophidian Empire (High-tech snakes with robotic arms). With the help of a traitor, the Empire (nicknamed Oafs) manages to control the minds of politicians and military leaders, making it easier to position their army and take control of the capital. After the takeover, very few soldiers of the Clowder Alliance escaped. The other survivors were captured and turned into cyborgs.

You play as several different felines that learn the arts of their ancestors known as the Ancient Wildcats. With this ancient art, the felines can do the impossible; with their powers they can throw fireballs, shoot laser beams, fight at very fast speeds, and even teleport. Using this old style of fighting, your goal is to thwart the evil plans of the Ophidian Empire, free the capital, and restore the Clowder Alliance back to the way it was.

Today, I will show you some screenshots of my game. This is one of many playable characters;  Her name is Kitty. Yes, her name is actually Kitty, and she doesn’t like others to question her name.

More updates are coming soon. I’m really excited about this game. I hope this year I’ll have the strength to get this project done and greenlit soon. I plan to release the game on steam. Thanks again for reading my posts. Don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter, that way you’ll be able to receive updates on my projects, and more indie game dev posts.
